The Patroon Island Bridge involved the rehabilitation and dock replacement of the 1,797-foot, six-lane bridge and the eight ramps (three levels stacked with two bridges on each level) at the bridge’s western end, which comprise the Interstate 90 / Interstate 787 Interchange.

This structure carries an average of 70,000 ADT in an east-west direction over the Hudson River between Albany and Rensselaer Counties, with 84,000 vehicles using the I-90 and I-787 Interchange on a daily basis. The project was part of the Department’s Accelerated Bridge Construction Program, requiring the contractor to mitigate the disturbance of traffic during construction.
