As part of the $16B capital initiative known as Energize 365, FirstEnergy required a rebuild and reinforcement of its 230kV transmission line to provide customers with greater service and reliability.

The 26-mile project was constructed in two phases beginning in September 2018 and completed in May 2020. Construction included replacing wooden poles with steel monopoles, new transmission and OPGW lines, and installation of access roads. Relay upgrades were required at three substations: North Meshoppen, Oxbow, and Lackawanna (PPT). Boswell’s role in this project was to provide project management and construction management services.
