To improve overall system reliability, operating flexibility, and system performance, a four-point 115kv line was eliminated by constructing a line rebuild looping into the Pequest River substation and expanding it to a 5-breaker ring bus. A new control house was designed and constructed on pier foundations. The ground grid in the 115 kV yard was expanded to encompass the larger transmission substation area. A new cable trench system was installed in the yard to accommodate all the new power and control cables. The project included the installation of two new 34.5kV sub-transmission gas circuit breakers and associated isolation switches. For the 115 kV station upgrade, two new line dead-end structures, ground switches, and four new gas circuit breakers and associated isolation. A 1.3-mile-long transmission line in White Township and Belvidere was also rebuilt as part of this project.
