Dundee Island Park is located on a 6.7-acre parcel of land along the western bank of the Passaic River. This state-of-the-art project was a $12 million collaborative effort between the Passaic County, the City of Passaic, and the Trust for Public Land. The Park amenities included an Amphitheater, a Boat Launch, Community Garden, an elevated Concession Stand and Feld House with Restrooms; Fitness Equipment, a Playground, Site Lighting, a River Walk, a Sculpture Park, a Soccer Field, and a Spray Park. As the Park was located in both the Floodway and Floodplain of the Passaic River, the design requirements included for fill in the floodplain, nor structures in the floodway. Additionally, as the existing property was historic fill, every effort was made to minimize the excavation so as to reduce the cost for the disposal of ID-27 material. In essence, given the historic fill and the majority of the site being located in the floodway, the design required a balance earthwork to be economically viable and within the project budget. There were also numerous public meetings soliciting input from the public for the project design.
