The fathometer survey data was collected with an Electronic Range-Azimuth survey system in combination with a digital recording depth sounder. The limits of the survey extend 100 feet from each bridge fascia, covering an area of approximately 215,500 square feet. The inspection surveys took place shortly after the opening of the new Goethals Bridge; the surveys on the new Goethals Bridge will serve as the baseline for comparisons with future surveys.
