The City of Hoboken contracted Boswell for the Castle Point and Sinatra Park Walkway Reconstruction Project after the catastrophic failure of the existing waterfront recreation facility.

Sinatra Park was originally constructed on a wooden platform in the early 1900’s, which failed due to age and marine borer infestation. The 96,000 square feet park and recreation area was reconstructed with a new 19,000 square foot platform utilizing steel pile foundations. The facility now features a synthetic turf soccer field, a riverfront promenade, improved sports-lighting system, spectator bleachers, and new solar-powered trash/recycling compactors. The project also included the reconstruction of an existing ADA-compliant ramp accessing the waterfront amphitheater. The reconstruction of Castle Point, a picturesque passive recreation area consisted of the rehabilitation of approximately 3,100 square feet of existing waterfront structure and the re-establishment of a gazebo and waterfront promenade areas, including site lighting and other amenities. Boswell was in charge of engineering design, construction administration, and inspection for the reconstruction of two facilities along Hoboken’s Hudson River waterfront. Permits were secured from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers due to the project’s location along the Hudson River Waterfront.

This project was awarded an ACECNJ Honor Award for Small Projects.
