Boswell was retained by the East Orange Water Commission (EOWC) to provide project management and environmental services associated with the construction and operation of a 18-acre solar array on a portion of the EOWC’s 2,000+ acre Wellfield property.
Initially, our environmental team performed an in-depth environmental reconnaissance of the Wellfield property in an effort to identify the most favorable location for the solar panels from a regulatory and operational standpoint. The environmental services provided included a formal wetland delineation, threatened and endangered species survey and preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement.
Upon selection of an acceptable site, Boswell managed the funding and design process between Amberjack Solar Energy and the EOWC, which resulted in the execution of a Solar Purchase Power Agreement. The implementation of a clean energy source to power the potable water system, and significant costs savings realized by the EOWC on an annual basis, is a living example of the successful collaboration between local utilities, clean energy providers and government incentive programs.
