La Faso Memorial Field is a high-tech, multi-use recreation complex with 90,000 sq. ft. of synthetic turf playing surface. The facility is utilized for soccer, football, and baseball and includes a “Field of Dreams” diamond for special needs athletes. The “Field of Dreams” had been constructed with a special soft cushioned infield surface and is compatible for use by players who have the need of walkers or wheelchairs. Additional improvements consisted of a computerized field lighting system, remote control scoreboard system, an underground drainage system, retaining walls, grandstand bleachers with seating for approximately 300 people, walking paths, a restroom/storage building, and a 100-car parking lot to accommodate the parking needs for La Faso Field and the adjacent little league fields.
Boswell was responsible for the layout, design, and preparation of the bid documents. This project was designed using the United States Soccer Foundation (USSF) standards, since it was partially funded by a grant from the USSF.
La Faso Memorial Field was selected as the recipient of the “Municipal Project of the Year” award by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers in the Parks/Recreation category.
