New Jersey Turnpike Exit 15X/Seaview Drive Extension
Secaucus, New Jersey
Boswell, in association with AECOM, provided construction supervision services for the Secaucus Interchange and the Seaview Drive Extension construction project. This new Interchange 15X provides direct access to NJ Transit’s Frank R. Lautenberg Rail Station (FRLRS) at Secaucus Junction, connecting the NJ Transit rail mainline to the Northeast Corridor. Although the FRLRS was separate and apart from the Interchange 15X project, it should be noted that Boswell was in charge of the Quality Assurance/Quality Control during the construction of the FRLRS.
The $200 Million Secaucus Interchange Project was comprised of six (6) separate, but integrated construction contracts, which ultimately culminated in a new interchange at MP 110.75. The major work elements consisted of a ramp network over and under the mainline for the movements to and from the Turnpike’s Eastern Spur, two (2) new bridge structures, bridge widening, deck replacement, a multi-lane toll plaza and utility building and ramp connections to the Seaview Drive Extension.
The Seaview Drive Extension involved the construction of a new segment of roadway connecting Seaview Drive to Interchange 15X. This segment further included major roadway improvements and widening portions of the local roadway network, a water main relocation, signalization to enhance the circulation of traffic in the Secaucus warehouse district, and two (2) new structures.
